Dr Maritz is a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon who has an interest in hip and knee surgery, and foot and ankle surgery.

He has fellowship experience in orthopaedics, both locally and internationally, including the prestigious Guys’ and St. Thomas’ hospital in London.

He has held positions as the Head of the Department of Orthopaedics in a hospital in Kwa-zulu Natal, as well as the head of the Foot and Ankle unit at Stellenbosch Universities’ Faculty of Orthopaedics.

He continues to teach and train orthopaedic surgeons both locally and internationally in his field of interests.

His field of interest include hip and knee arthroplasty; soft tissue sporting injuries to the knee and ankle; as well as a wide range of foot and ankle pathologies. He has a keen interest in minimally invasive arthroscopic treatments for sporting injuries.  He has gained extensive experience in managing complex lower limb injuries.
